Police Press Release

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the Frigate Bay area on Tuesday 13th June 2006, where a thirty-three (33) year old Jeffery Murray was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Five (5) persons are presently in police custody assisting with investigations into the incident.

Any person with information relevant to the investigation of this incident should contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 465-2241, extension 236 or 466-8351 or the Frigate Bay Police Station at 465-6899 and can do so anonymously.

The following persons were arrested and charged on 13th June 2006;

· Alden Richards of Lower Shaw Avenue was charged with the offences of “Possession with Intent to Supply” and “Possession of the Controlled Drug” cannabis, committed on 13th June 2006.

· Dave Richardson of Saddlers Village was charged with the offence of “Wounding with Intent”, committed on 11th June 2006 at Saddlers.

Darren Henry of Cayon Village who was charged with the offences “Battery on a Police officer”, “Resisting arrest” and for being “armed with an offensive weapon” committed on 5th June 2006 at Cayon, was bailed in the sum of $3,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 3rd July 2006.

At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 13th June 2006, Errol Croft of Dorset Village who was charged with the offence of “Fraud” committed on 4th March 2006 was bailed in the sum of $5,000.00 to appear at the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 3rd July 2006.

Shawn Mitchelle a native of Trinidad and Tobago, who has been residing in Basseterre, was charged with the offence of Wounding committed on 5th June 2006. At the Basseterre Magistrate Court on 13th June 2006, Mitchelle pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to six (6) months imprisonment with hard labour

Wednesday 14th June 2006.
